The Film Makers Combine declared Dimple Kapadia a defaulter with immediate effect. All producers were informed “not to engage Dimple in any film till further decision”.
The FMC had directed Dimple to report for the shooting of Kartavya, as per contract, within a stipulated time limit. With Dimple not complying with the FMC directive, the association declared her a defaulter.
It may be recalled that Dimple refused to act in the film when Juhi Chawla replaced Divya Bharti as she (Dimple) said, she was not old enough to play mother-in-law to Juhi.
Subhash Ghai’s workshop for the physically handicapped was inaugurated on 29th January at Mahim, Bombay. It was the initiative of the Indian Society for Physically Handicapped and had been set up with the support and encouragement of Ghai. He donated the entire proceeds of the premiere of Khal-nayak at Novelty cinema in Bombay for this workshop. Ghai also sponsored a cold drink stall facility for a blind person at Worli.
Venus hosted a party at Hotel Sun N Sand on 25th January to release the music of Miss 420. Shah Rukh Khan did the honours. The film had the hit song, Aaja meri gaadi mein baith jaa. Its music was scored by Anu Malik.
