Review of London Dreams

October 31, 2009 by TFSJ · 2 Comments

London DreamsOn the whole, London Dreams suffers on account of an unconvincing post-interval portion. Given its high cost of production (over Rs. 60 crore), it will entail heavy losses to its producers. Even its theatrical distributors will not have reason to smile although the prices for theatrical distribution rights aren’t unduly high in some cases.

Review of Aladin

AladinOn the whole, Aladin is a flop show which even a hundred genies put together can’t change the fate of. Considering its huge budget (of almost Rs. 30-35 crore), it will translate into huge losses for all those associated with the film.

Review of This Is It (English; Documentary)

Michael Jackson This is itI’ll always remember R.D. Burman’s last performance; in my hometown. We gave him such a rousing applause that he probably fought hard to hold back the tears. In a way, his inner feelings of loneliness at the time were, perhaps, much like that of Michael Jackson in his final days. The King is gone, and Columbia Pictures’ This Is It is the closest we’ll ever get to be a part of his emotional farewell concert.

Review of Fruit & Nut

October 24, 2009 by TFSJ · Leave a Comment

Fruit And NutOn the whole, Fruit & Nut is not the kind of film the usual cinema-going audience can appreciate. Its weird English title, absence of hero and poor promotion will only add to its tale of woes. It will, therefore, remain a non-starter.

Review of Julie & Julia (English)

Julie & Julia On the whole, Nora Ephron’s biographical comedy is light, inspirational and filled with fun moments. But there isn’t much in it for the Indian  womenfolk.

Review of G-Force (English)

October 24, 2009 by TFSJ · Leave a Comment

G-ForceOn the whole, Hoyt Yeatman’s comic caper is quite a thriller, but its appeal for the Indian audience would be limited. There doesn’t seem to be a limit to what animals can be taught to do. In Walt Disney Pictures’ G-Force, an FBI agent turns his intelligent pets, including four guinea pigs, a hamster, a mole, and a fly, into highly-trained espionage agents.
