‘Striker’ Is A Hit: So Tweets Siddharth!

February 6, 2010 by TFSJ

StrikerFilm people have, since years, been fighting for abolition of film censorship. Many among the public are also in favour of the industry’s demand for a censor-free film industry.
But with so many stars making their presence felt on Twitter, it may not be long before the public demands censorship of stuff posted by the stars on the social networking site.

Just two weeks back, we mentioned in this very column (in our issue dated 24th-30th January 2010) how Shahid Kapoor had declared on his Twitter account that his Chance Pe Dance was a hit when, in reality, the film had bombed at the box-office.

Well, actor Siddharth seems to be worse than Shahid. For, the hero of Striker tweeted on Friday, the day his film opened: ‘Bhubaneshwar sold out… Mumbai opens strongly. Waiting for calls from theatres.’ The truth, of course, was far from what Siddharth had tweeted.

The film had not even opened in Bhubaneshwar or, for that matter, in the whole of Orissa! The opening in Bombay was as weak as it was everywhere else. Another tweet of the actor the same day reads: ‘Film sold out in Chennai, Nagpur…’ The fact, as opposed to the aforementioned piece of fiction, is that the film was anything but sold out in Madras and Nagpur.

With such blatant lies posted by stars to fool their fans, the public might demand a censorship on all statements, comments and claims made by them on Twitter. Yes, it just might!
