Rajkumar Santoshi’s Khakee opened on 23rd January to a very good response. Although the initial of the multi-starcast film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Aishwarya Rai and Tusshar Kapoor was very good, the film ultimately did not work at the box-office.

The censors objected to the word ‘sexy’ in the ‘Mera pant bhi sexy’ song of Vimal Kumar’s Dulaara. It was suggested that Kumar replace the word with another word, ‘fancy’.

Rishi Kapoor’s debut directorial film, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, was seen by the Central Board of Film Certification on 12th January and issued a ‘U’ certificate on 15th. The film was 4,848.07 metres in length (19 reels).

Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! was completed on 12th January on a huge set at Filmistan Studios. It was the last shooting schedule of the film which went on for 40 days.
